|Jun. 1st, 2011 @ 12:01 am Annual Fiesta in Celebration of the Anniversary of the Occassion of Tim's Birth|
I'm feeling: sillyEvery year since about 1994, my friends and I have celebrated my birthday by meeting up for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. In 2008 I moved to Colorado, so it hasn't been possible to get together with all of my Georgia and South Carolina friends for the annual traditional Mexican meal for the last couple of years. In 2010, some friends decided to go out for Mexican around my birthday and sent me a photo of them enjoying their meal to let me know they were thinking about the tradition. So, I started an album of these photos - eventually it grew to be an international celebration when my friend Ken sent pics from a meal in Mexico! 2010 International Fiesta Celebration of Tim's Birth
So... If you would like to be part of this year's Fiesta Celebration, it will be going on ALL month long in June. All it takes is to take a picture of you, your friends, your family, etc., enjoying a Mexican meal and to get the picture to me. You can send the pic however you like and, with your permission, I will include it in a collection of photos in this web photo album:
Here are ways to contact me and join the fiesta:
|Apr. 6th, 2011 @ 09:54 am Mary Lillian Bondy Bond, 1935-2011|
|Mary Lillian Bondy Bond, born in 1935, passed away March 27th while visiting with family in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by five sisters, a sister-in-law and a brother: A. Arthur Bondy, Jr. (Thelma), Marguerite B. Bondy, Catherine B. Paine (Charlie), Pauline B. Hernandez (John), Gayle B. Brown (Carl, Jr.), Alice B. Hill (Fred), and Adelaide Bondy; preceded by her parents, Auguste A. Bondy, Sr. and Annie Scott Hays Bondy; preceded by her siblings David J. Bondy, Anne B. Triche and Patricia B. LaCour. She is survived by her five children: John A. Bond, III, Paul J. Bond, Stephanie Atwood, Timothy Bond, and Charlotte Bond; and nine grandchildren. |
Mary, a native of New Roads, LA, graduated in 1958 from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in home economics and subsequently completed her Masters of Nutrition also from Louisiana State University. She retired from a distinguished career as a nutritional counselor to people at risk in both Louisiana and Georgia. Mary taught high school, but was most pleased with successfully raising five children. Many of Mary’s friends and family have her artwork, mostly acrylic and water color paintings, by which to remember her favorite hobby. Few know of how often she would take or send her children and dearest friends to remote locations to get the ideal picture of a light house, beach or seascape to keep her sufficiently inspired. Mary loved animals and rescued several cats and dogs.
Mary is most deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial of her life will be celebrated in New Roads, LA, in June. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
|Oct. 6th, 2010 @ 04:03 pm Strengths 2.0|
Back in October 2004, I took the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment and was told my top 5 strengths/themes were:|
Here in our office, we were asked to take the assessment again and here are the 5 top themes I got this time:
People who are especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.
People who are especially talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.
People who are especially talented in the Communication theme generally find it easy to put their thoughts into words. They are good conversationalists and presenters.
People who are especially talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.
People who are especially talented in the Activator theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. They are often impatient.

|Jun. 28th, 2010 @ 12:09 pm My vacation diary|
I don't take off annual leave days often. This is because I mostly want to feel like they have gone to good use rather than just to take a random day off. Then, when I want to take a real vacation, I've got plenty of accumulated leave to use.|
Last year Toby and I didn't feel like we could take as much time or spend too much money, so we centered our trips out of town around free weekends at the National Parks as well as my time off around xmas. These were great vacations, but not as long & relaxing as I'd like.
This year, however, Toby came up with an even better idea. Turns out that Denver is only a few hours' drive from the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming, home to Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore & the Crazy Horse memorial, among other things. Toby found out that the ongoing carving at Crazy Horse includes two "night blasts" every year at June 26 and September 6, so he suggested that we plan our vacation around the June event. Toby reviewed maps, travel guides, websites, etc., and put together a five-day itinerary of driving, camping and sightseeing. As luck would have it, Denver's gay pride celebration was moved up to an earlier weekend, so we could take part in that and go on our vacation, creating a week full of fun.
I started the vacation thinking I was going to be sick. ( So...Collapse )

|Oct. 5th, 2009 @ 01:16 pm Tweets now posting in TimTweets LJ|
|I don't know why I haven't done this sooner, but I've finally gotten around to moving my Twitter posts to their own LiveJournal. I've been awful about updating here - what with Facebook and Twitter being so very easy to update in mere seconds, I've become too lazy to actually use the energy, time & thought needed to write a blog post. I've also let Toby take most of the photos when we go places because and he's much better about posting them.|
Anyway, daily posts from http://twitter.com/timbond will now appear at http://timtweets.livejournal.com
